Virginia

The trip has come full circle. We are spending our days in air conditioning, hot showers, big soft beds, and plenty of good food. Ahhhh.... civilizaton. Here we are in Virginia our final destination. We stopped along the way in Oriental, NC and stayed with our friends Tom and Amy of DreamCatcher. They taught us how to go crabbing and how to clean and eat the crabs we caught. It was FUN! Then we took the Dismal Swamp route the rest of the way to Virginia. Pictured is a view of the narrow passageway. The wildlife includes, pelicans, osprey, watermoccasin snake, baby birds in a crab trap, and a dragonfly. The pups didn't enjoy all the motoring and spent most of their time hiding under the "captain's seat".

June 2006

Well friends, here we are back in the good old US of A. We ended up motoring and sailing from the Bahamas to St. Augustine. The forecast was a little off and we didn't get the winds we thought we would. This made for a calm, uneventful, and a bit boring, 3.5 nights and 3 days. FUN STUFF. We didn't get as far as we thoguht we would so we did another 2 day, 1 night sail from St. Augustine to Charleston and then a day of motoring to get to our present location in Georgetown, SC. Its lovely here. It reminds me of our home port, Saugatuck, MI. We are glad to be back in the states and have the amenities and FOOD that we missed in the Bahamas. We hope to be in Virginia by the end of the month. We are also hoping to get a new phone number soon. We love and miss you all. Shining Sandi and Dapper Don Posted by Picasa

The last day on the Bahama banks, Don and I caught this Cero Mackeral. It was the only edible fish of the 5 we caught total. 3 huge Barracuda, one 6 inch Cero and then the big boy! Posted by Picasa
